Quotes about jacque (6 Quotes)

It did hit me this year after Jacque Jones signed with the Cubs that I've got Torii as the last guy of position players left from when I started managing. Four years and only one position player -- that's amazing.

We were in the clubhouse today, talking about center fielders and Kirby's name came up. He's one of those special dudes. I knew he had the stroke, and I was asking if you could go the hospital to see him. They said he was in intensive care, that it was just for family. ... Now he's gone. That's crazy. I didn't even know. The last time I saw him was when the Mets played in Minnesota. I went to dinner with him -- me, Kirby, Jacque Jones and Torii Hunter. I'm sure Torii's tore up. It's so sad.

It's kind of different, because I'm used to having Jacque (Jones) and J.C. (Romero) and all those guys around. When I came up in '99, I played with those guys in the minor leagues, so we had the chemistry already. There are a lot of new faces in here. A lot of guys, I don't really know their names.

I think we're younger and more athletic. Jeromy Burnitz played a great right field in 2005. But we got younger for today and the future with Jacque Jones over Jeromy.

It was one of those nights I was seeing the ball well. Maybe it had something to do with Jacque moving behind me. I don't know, but it was a night I felt pretty good at the plate.

It was a real good thing, everything that happened today. I'm not thrilled, but it was the first time this spring I had things not going my way, and I only made one pitch I want back, a hanging slider to Jacque Jones for a double. I felt really good and threw a lot of quality pitches. I could see myself going to the seventh, eighth, ninth inning.
