O slave, of no more trust
Than love that's hir'd!
O slave, of no more trust
Than love that's hir'd!
Away, inhuman dog, unhallowed slave!
What we determine we often break. Purpose is but the slave to memory.
Let us die in honour: once more back again;
And he that will not follow Bourbon now,
Let him go hence and, with his cap in hand
Like a base pander, hold the chamber-door
Whilst by a slave, no gender than my dog,
His fairest daughter is contaminated.
Being your slave, what should I do but tend
Upon the hours and times of your desire?
Nor dare I question with my jealous thought
Where you may be, or your affairs suppose,
But, like a sad slave, stay and think of naught
Save where you are, how happy you make those.
Thou slave, thou wretch, thou coward!
A knave; a rascal; an eater of broken meats; a base, proud,
shallow, beggarly, three-suited, hundred-pound, filthy,
worsted-stocking knave; a lily-liver'd, action-taking, whoreson,
glass-gazing, superserviceable, finical rogue;
one-trunk-inheriting slave; one that wouldst be a bawd in way of
good service, and art nothing but the composition of a knave,
beggar, coward, pander, and the son and heir of a mongrel bitch;
one whom I will beat into clamorous whining, if thou deny the
least syllable of thy addition.
Go back again, thou slave, and fetch him home.
Heaven would that she these gifts should have,
And I to live and die her slave.
This is the monstrosity in love, lady, that the will is infinite and the execution confined that the desire is boundless, and the act a slave to limit.
But thought's the slave of life, and life time's foolAnd time, that takes survey of all the world,Must have a stop.
Purpose is but the slave to memory,
Of violent birth, but poor validity;
Which now, like fruit unripe, sticks on the tree,
But fill unshaken when they mellow be.
That god forbid, that made me first your slave,
I should in thought control your times of pleasure,
Or at your hand th' account of hours to crave,
Being your vassal bound to stay your leisure!
