Oh, I can care less about scrutiny and all that. If it was a bad game, it was a bad game. Just because of what people say and what people think, they don't dictate my game and how I play. I've been in the playoffs before and I've had bad games in the playoffs before. It's just one of those things, you shake it off.

I'm enjoying every moment of it, don't get me wrong, but I think it was the team being in attack mode and me being more aggressive. This game means a lot as far as getting over the hump. This is a big win for us, obviously, for a lot of reasons.

I think our defense intensity really helped us because we were able to get a lot of easy baskets which allowed us to get some confidence and for us to feel good about ourselves.

There's not a thing that any of you guys can say bad about me that would hurt my feelings... I'm not coming at you, what I'm saying is that, I'm willing to take that heat for my team, if we're playing well or if we're not playing well.

We still think we're a good team. We didn't get blown out of here (in Cleveland), for one. We're capable. We just have to step it up a little bit.

We feel we can compete against the best teams in the league. But against the better teams, you can't have the mental mistakes late in the game, because that's when the better team will prevail. They hit some big shots and we left them wide open to hit some big shots.

Hopefully, it will be a lesson and make us come out harder. We'll try to come out of the gate and jump on teams and steal some wins and position ourselves as high as possible.

We have the right to be frustrated and mad about individual play and mad about the team play. But when everybody is doubting us and everybody is against us, the guys that are on this team, including staff, must be on board. We must stay focused and we must stay together.

I don't care who is on the other team. If they only have five guys to play with we're trying to win. It's unfortunate for them and fortunate for us. Sometimes when your best player isn't in the lineup that's usually when a team can be very dangerous because they play together and they play real loose.

We bend but don't break. We have to have that attitude. That has been our approach the past seven or eight games.

It's a great accomplishment. I just didn't want to put too much emphasis on it tonight. My goal tonight was just to bring energy.

We consider Miami one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference so we see it as a test each and every time. They beat on us last year in the playoffs so we wanted to come out and see how we could fix it and just compete with them. We competed with them before but we just weren't on their level.

I think we've established ourselves at home. But we've still got to keep that focus every night.

Beyond the bleeding ears, how skewed is Carter's worldview right now While the league's decision seems a bit petty (even Tim Duncan was spied with a pair of headphones on while shooting before San Antonio's home opener), Carter's reaction to the news was Vince at his petulant best. Why ... Oh, Lord. It's going to hurt my routine big time.

Our last two (games), we looked like a team that wanted to go home.

It's no big deal. 'As the World Turns,' you know.
