    The Mexican military is a well-respected institution with strict rules on how to control Northern Mexico. It maintains a protocol of not going within a mile of the border, and those who would trespass would be severely punished.

    It seemed like there was some kind of organization about it because they left the school at passing time, and they left peacefully. Whatever the punishment is for skipping school, they'll be subjected to that.
