Be composed--be at ease with me--I am Walt Whitman, liberal and lusty as Nature, Not till the sun excludes you do I exclude you, Not till the waters refuse to glisten for you and the leaves to rustle for you, do my words refuse to glisten and rustle for you.
I saw all races, all colors, blue eyed blonds to black skinned Africans in true brotherhood! In unity! Living as one! Worshiping as one! No segregationists, no liberals; they would not have known how to interpret the meaning of those words
I must add... my gratitude to you for the attention with which you have listened to me, for, from my numerous observations, our Liberals are never capable of letting anyone else have a conviction of his own without at once meeting their opponent with abuse or even something worse.
I think it's very clear that the Liberals have not earned people's votes,
There are some liberals eager to embrace a culture void of morals, but the majority of America is made up of honest, hard-working families who turned out in droves to protect the traditional way of life.
I read Shakespeare and the Bible, and I can shoot dice. That's what I call a liberal education.
I am very pleased the Liberal opposition was able to force government into finally taking action - after several years of Conservative delay tactics.
I do consider them to be message films, and the messages are, by and large, liberal messages. But that ought not surprise anybody. Hollywood is overwhelmingly liberal.
My mom is this liberal, feminist, Mormon powerhouse. I just love her to death.
Only the activists, liberal and conservative, will remember this vote.
Bryn Mawr had done what a four-year dose of liberal education was designed to do unfit her for eighty per cent of useful work of the world.
Nor do the nation's regionally and ethnically diverse Latinos attach themselves to just one party on the issues. The Hispanic vote is very hard to pigeonhole, ... On certain issues, they're very conservative. On other issues, just the opposite - they're very liberal.
Good for you, you have a heart, you can be a liberal. Now, couple your heart with your brain, and you can be a conservative.
I am certainly a liberal.

I think they'll take it very seriously and I think that they'll find, in Parliament at least with the Liberal party, not a lot of serious opposition to this.
I think anyone that thought that we were coming in as a bunch of liberal Democrats to deliver more large-scale social programs was nuts. I sure didn't expect it.
I'd anticipated the Liberals would want to delay the election at least until the spring, if not longer, ... But look, if there's a necessity to have a fall election and the NDP ceases to prop up the government, that could still happen.
Just put down 9/11... I think, on most things I'm liberal, except on defending ourselves and keeping half the money. Those things I'm kind of conservative on.
A large nose is in fact the sign of an affable man, good, courteous, witty, liberal, courageous, such as I am.
Most absurdly in the program, the Aidan Quinn character is portrayed as a courageous priest challenging a conservative church hierarchy. In real life, the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut has a liberal bishop who is cracking down on dissenting conservative priests. The national Episcopal hierarchy is overwhelmingly liberal, and orthodox Episcopalians are increasingly looking to overseas Anglican primates for leadership and protection.
Yes, I'm of the old guard, liberal Republican.
I have yet to met a liberal who can withstand the attrition of prolonged discussion of the unessentials.
If you're a Liberal in Alberta, you're a real Liberal.
I'm a liberal when it comes to human rights, the poor so's George Bush.... But Liberal and Conservative don't mean much to me anymore. Does that mean we care about people and are interested and want to help And if that makes you a Liberal, so be it.
There aren't any liberals left in New York. They've all been mugged by now.
The real point is not that the court is conservative, but that the spectrum of views on the court today represents a particular range, from ardent conservative to central or moderate liberal. There's something to be said for a court of centrists, but that's not what we have. One end of the spectrum is represented, and not the other.
While I did not seek it, I now see the need for that kind of enabling leadership in the renewal of the Liberal Party of Canada.
This is yet another in a series of attacks on the religious traditions on which our nation was founded. For far too long, the liberals have used our courts as a way to create rules they cannot achieve popularly through an elected, representative legislature. If anything is unconstitutional, it is this vicious display of judicial activism.
She's gone down the liberal road, and I've gone down the conservative road, ... You've seen the jobs being chased away from your state, and we've seen jobs grow in our state.
A rich man told me recently that a liberal is a man who tells other people what to do with their money.
I'm a strong Liberal. I've voted Liberal all my life. I probably will again. But not this time. It's time for a change.
Book of Daniel perhaps failed because it showed an elite world of liberal religion with which most Americans cannot relate. Like much of the Episcopal hierarchy today, it was preoccupied more with the aberrant than with the enduring norms for human behavior. And like the declining Episcopal Church as a whole, it turned out to be a failure.
When contemplating college liberals, you really regret once again that John Walker is not getting the death penalty. We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too. Otherwise, they will turn out to be outright traitors.
That is what has been blurred, ... Frankly, if the Government of Canada would sue the Liberal party, it would provide a wake-up call forever that that is not the same thing.
This building will probably extend the center of our campus a little farther north. There was a big shift with the liberal arts building because it's all classrooms and offices, so there's a lot more traffic in that part of our facility, and the library will only add to that traffic pattern.
Yeah, but you need an experienced radio veteran who is a liberal advocate. And there just hadn't been any radio that did that. And so they weren't trained - they had developed all these bad habits of being objective and balanced and stuff like that.
People are disappointed with the Liberals, disappointed with Paul Martin, so they have turned their attention to Stephen Harper. Harper hasn't done anything to validate what the Liberals would like in regards to views that might not jive with average Canadians.
Historically, there has not been an ideological litmus test for Supreme Court nominees. Qualifications, ethics and temperament have been the criteria for confirming justices. That was certainly the case with Justice Ginsburg. Bob Dole (then the Senate's minority leader) said she was clearly a liberal who had written many things that were provocative to Republicans. But Bill Clinton had won the election, and it was his nomination.
A liberal is a conservative who's been arrested. A conservative is a liberal who's been mugged.
A liberal is a conservative who has been arrested.
Education Many believe our entire public-education establishment is going in exactly the wrong direction. Rather, having a goal of real achievement, the trend seems to be toward reaching some kind of educational parity, to make sure no students feel badly about themselves. The liberal educational theoreticians tell you that bad grades only serve to discourage underachievers. The primary objective of Outcome-Based Education is to avoid humiliating a student. We should be educating the student first. Students are passing courses and graduating because of lower requirements, because of this new philosophical belief that no one should be held back. Colleges and universities are finding out that a high-school diploma is meaningless in terms of real achievement. The liberal school establishment lowers standards, ignores human nature, refuses to reward success and doesn't punish failure.
I vote Libertarian, straight ticket. But otherwise, Kinky Friedman, because he's not a politician, even though he's a liberal. I'll forgive him for that.
He has the compassion and integrity of Jimmy Carter he's got that shrewd decision-making and hard-nosed realism of a Richard Nixon he's got the warmth and amiability and the throw-the-arm-around-the-shoulder of a Bill Clinton and he's got the liberal passion of a Teddy Kennedy,
Controversy What controversy This is reality. What I see is that no matter if you're a conservative or a liberal or whatever side you stand on, this is the reality of the situation -- that people's families and their young kids are being affected.

I'm confident of their judgment and if the Liberal party shares the same confidence, they're free to call an election.
The President gives Prayer Breakfasts. He almost invariably has at them, from the Jewish community, the most Orthodox hard-line rabbis he can find, or that can be found for him. The liberals are under-represented, or not represented at all.
