If there is a single fact which anyone who seriously studies the history of Christianity cannot help but be struck by, it is the almost complete absence of documents regarding the man whose name this great international religion bears -- Jesus Christ. We know of him only what is told to us in the New Testament gospels, that is, practically nothing.
Whether or not one agrees with it, or finds it interesting or reprehensible, it's an enormously interesting perspective on it that some follower of Jesus in the early Christian movement obviously thought was significant.
I can say that I never knew what joy was like until I gave up pursuing happiness, or cared to live until I chose to die. For these two discoveries I am beholden to Jesus.
It is true that every day has its own evil, and its good too. But how difficult must life be, especially farther on when the evil of each day increases as far as worldly things go, if it is not strengthened and comforted by faith. And in Christ all worldly things may become better, and, as it were, sanctified. Theo, woe is me if I do not preach the Gospel if I did not aim at that and possess faith and hope in Christ, it would be bad for me indeed, but no I have some courage.
Black is not defined by the media Tall T's, Saggy Pants, Icy Teeth or Style of Dance. Black is not defined by the media, it's defined by it's background, whether your past is in Steel Mills, or Cotton Fields whether you bled or cried during struggles whether you acknowledge it or not,Black is inside. Defined by your racial background, the blood that flows deep in your veins. Black is not defined by the media, so before you ask me if I'm Black, take a look at what Black was before. Before Rap, before Hip-Hop, before Blues became Rock 'n Roll, before slave masters commanded slave ships, Before Jesus came, even before the Hebrew's hardship, Black was Black. And they didn't need the media to tell them that.
Ah Christ, that it were possible For one short hour to see The souls we loved, that they might tell us What and where they be.
The Gospel of Judas gives an intriguing alternative view of the relationship between Jesus and Judas, offering new insights into the disciple known for his betrayal of Jesus. Unlike the accounts in the canonical Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, this newly-discovered gospel depicts Judas as a favored disciple, and a close friend, and acting at Jesus' request when he hands Jesus over to the Roman authorities.
In the New Testament the Savior of the world, our Lord Jesus Christ, represents the situation thus The way that leads to life is straight, the gate narrowfew be they who find itnow, on the contrary, to speak only of Denmark, we are all Christians, the way is as broad as it possibly can be, the broadest in Denmark, since it is the way in which we all are walking, besides being in all respects as convenient, as comfortable, as possible and the gate is as wide as it possibly can be, wider surely a gate cannot be than that through which we all are going en masse.... Ergo the New Testament is no longer truth.
When men see how relevant the ten commandments are for economics, they should gain new respect for the importance of the laws of God for all of life, but especially for the life of dominion man, the man redeemed by grace through faith in the one true Dominion Man, Jesus Christ.
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
This is the greatest attack on the church since the early church because it attacks the deity of jesus christ.
When you remember me, it means that you have carried something of who I am with you, that I have left some mark of who I am on who you are. It means that you can summon me back to your mind even though countless years and miles may stand between us. It means that if we meet again, you will know me. It means that even after I die, you can still see my face and hear my voice and speak to me in your heart. For as long as you remember me, I am never entirely lost. When I'm feeling most ghost-like, it is your remembering me that helps remind me that I actually exist. When I'm feeling sad, it's my consolation. When I'm feeling happy, it's part of why I feel that way. If you forget me, one of the ways I remember who I am will be gone. If you forget, part of who I am will be gone. Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. the good thief said from his cross (Luke 2342). There are perhaps no more human words in all of Scripture, no prayer we can pray so well.
Christians have to listen to the world as well as to the Word -- to science, to history, to what reason and our own experience tell us. We do not honor the higher truth we find in Christ by ignoring truths found elsewhere.
What would Christ do if he were in my situation.
I should just put it bluntly, because we're all sort of friends here now - it's exceedingly likely that my greatest success is behind me. Oh, so Jesus, what a thought! You know that's the kind of thought that could lead a person to start drinking gin at nine o'clock in the morning, and I don't want to go there.
Jesus Himself said, 'No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money,' ... We believe the governor of Mississippi and his supporters
The sentiments attributed to Christ are in the Old Testament. They were familiar in the Jewish schools and to all the Pharisees, long before the time of Christ, as they were familiar in all the civilizations of the earth -- Egyptian, Babylonian, and Persian, Greek, and Hindu.
I believe in person to person. Every person is Christ for me, and since there is only one Jesus, that person is the one person in the world at that moment.
Christ would not vote for Barack Obama, because Barack Obama has voted to behave in a way that it is inconceivable for Christ to have behaved.
They're not convinced that there is such a thing as objective moral truth. They're not convinced that Jesus is the only way. They're not convinced really that other religions aren't also ways to come to God,
Marco Antonio Barrera has a lot on the line in this fight by going for his fourth title belt. It hasn't been done. He'll be the first in history to be a four-weight division champ, if he were to accomplish his feat. But, of course, he won't accomplish it with Jesus.
It is a tragedy when the mind, soul and heart are in slavery in a way of life which refuses to recognize that people have rights before God. It is a war which makes hate a badge of honor, slavery the keystone to prosperity. Not to resist would make one an accomplice to crime. Resistance was part of the program of Jesus. We must resist oppression and tyranny. We have to end it no matter what it costs.
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
I was raised Catholic and I'm Presbyterian now, but I've always been a Christian, regardless of denomination. I believe that Jesus is the way.
Firm, faithful, and devoted, full of energy and zeal, and truth, he labors for his race he clears their painful way to improvement he hews down like a giant the prejudices of creed and caste that encumber it. He may be stern he may be exacting he may be ambitious yet but his is the sternness of the warrior Greatheart, who guards his pilgrim convoy from the onslaught of Apollyon. His is the exaction of the apostle, who speaks but for Christ, when he says, ''Whosoever will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.'' His is the ambition of the high master-spirit, which aims to fill a place in the first rank of those who are redeemed from the earth -- who stand without fault before the throne of God, who share the last mighty victories of the Lamb, who are called, and chosen, and faithful.
They can't give you the power of Jesus, they can't give you the ability to heal people, it's simply that they give you the scriptures and you have to know within yourself ...
I do not separate Christ from God more than a voice from the speaker or a beam from the sun. Christ is the voice of the speaker. He and the Father are the same thing, as the beam and the light, are the same light.
Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and myself founded empires but what foundation did we rest the creations of our genius Upon force. Jesus Christ founded an empire upon love and at this hour millions of men would die for Him.
What makes you a Christian is whether or not you really are in accord with biblical theology and whether you know Jesus Christ as your Saviour.
Poor Jesus, ... Christianity was founded so many years ago, and because it's all verbal, there were no copyrights, and his word was open to interpretation. We do not have that problem - Ron wrote everything down, so we're very fortunate that the religion has remained pure.
