God, our Creator, has stored within our minds and personalities, great potential strength and ability. Prayer helps us tap and develop these powers.

God Almighty never intended that the devil should triumph over the Church. He never intended that the saloons should walk rough-shod over Christianity.
By the God of thy Father who shall help thee, and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts and of the womb.
God, I am caught in a snare!
When you are plagued by great and excessive anxiety, and diseases of the body when you are wrapped up in the attachments of household and family, sometimes feeling joy, and then other times sorrow when you are wandering around in all four directions, and you cannot sit or sleep even for a moment - if you come to remember the Supreme Lord God, then your body and mind shall be cooled and soothed.
The childish idea that prayer is a handle by which we can take hold of God and obtain whatever we desire, leads to easy disillusionment with both what we had thought to be God and what we had thought to be prayer.
Thank God that the Bible cannot possibly be the word of God
God may forgive sins, he said, but awkwardness has no forgiveness in heaven or earth.
God gave us faculties for our use; each of them will receive its proper reward. Then do not let us try to charm them to sleep, but permit them to do their work until divinely called to something higher.
God forgives us... who am I not to forgive?
I believe in God, Mozart and Beethoven, and likewise their disciples and apostles - I believe in the Holy Spirit and the truth of the one, indivisible Art - I believe that this Art proceeds from God, and lives within the hearts of all illumined men - I be
He said he was very happy. He stated Allah would take care of them.
At 8, I made a pact with God.
God knows I gave my best in baseball at all times and no man on earth can truthfully judge me otherwise.
I, I, I myself
sometimes, leaving the fear of God on the left hand, and hiding
mine honour in my necessity, am fain to shuffle, to hedge,
and to lurch; and yet you, rogue, will ensconce your rags,
your cat-a-mountain looks, your red-lattice phrases, and
your bold-beating oaths, under the shelter of your honour!
Doubt cries, 'It is impossible You can't, you can't go on' Faith softly whispers, 'Yes, you can. Just trust in God. Be Calm.' Doubt cries, 'Look down Your path is steep And rough with stones and briar' Faith gently says, 'I'll take your hand. It's beautiful up higher.' Doubt has not one thing to give But 'going back' alone Faith has God, eternal life, And heirship to a throne And so, on unseen eagle's wings, These feet of clay are borne. While faith within me sings and sings, We rise above the storm.
It is easy to be a slave to the letter, and difficult to enter into the spirit easy to obey a number of outward rules, difficult to enter intelligently and self-sacrificingly into the will of God easy to entangle the soul in a network of petty observances, difficult to yield the obedience of an enlightened heart easy to be haughtily exclusive, difficult to be humbly spiritual easy to be an ascetic or a formalist, difficult to be pure, and loving, and wise, and free easy to be a Pharisee, difficult to be a disciple very easy to embrace a self-satisfying and sanctimonious system of rabbinical observances, very difficult to love God with all the heart, and all the might, and all the soul, and all the strength.
God has primed me for this purpose. He has inspired me to be a voice for the voiceless.
God created man and, finding him not sufficiently alone, gave him a companion to make him feel his solitude more keenly.
Love is the greatest thing that God can give us for Himself is love and it is the greatest thing we can give to God for it will also give ourselves, and carry with it all that is ours. The apostle calls it the band of perfection it is the old, and it is the new, and it is the great commandment, and it is all the commandments for it is the fulfilling of the Law.
If women were meant to play football, God would have put their tits somewhere else.
Whatever comes from God is impossible for a man to turn back.
You will reciprocally promise love, loyalty and matrimonial honesty. We only want for you this day that these words constitute the principle of your entire life and that with the help of divine grace you will observe these solemn vows that today, before God, you formulate.
Being mortal, never pray for an untroubled life But ask the gods to give you an enduring heart
This is the most important thing I can do with what God gave me, and I've got a lot of making up to do. God gave me a lot and showed me it is not impossible to use it to help people get to heaven.
God is a Republican, and Santa Claus is a Democrat
I can find no room in my cosmos for a deity save as a waste product of human weakness, the excrement of the imagination
Modernism is typically defined as the condition that begins when people realize God is truly dead, and we are therefore on our own.
High Flight Oh I have slipped the surly bonds of earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds-and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of-wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace, Where never the lark, nor even eagle flew- And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod The high, untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand and touched the face of God.
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
I've never felt so good. We've been playing so well lately. We've made it farther than we have in God knows how many years. We feel real good.
I have not lost faith in God. I have moments of anger and protest. Sometimes I've been closer to him for that reason.
'As by lot, God wot' and then you know, 'It came to pass, as most like it was.'
God has entrusted me with myself.
Perhaps the greatest discovery of my life, without question the greatest commitment, came when finally I had the confidence in God that I would loan or yield my agency to himwithout compulsion or pressure, without any duress, as a single individual alone, by myself, no counterfeiting, nothing expected other than the privilege. In a sense, speaking figuratively, to take one's agency, that precious gift which the scriptures make plain is essential to life itself, and say, 'I will do as you direct,' is afterward to learn that in so doing you possess it all the more.
Honour, high honour, and renown,
To Hymen, god of every town!
If only the day would come where everyone on this earth would lay down and worship one God.
Just before he ascended the gallows following the Nuremberg trials, Hans Frank, one of the top Nazis who controlled Poland, made a statement. He claimed he had little idea, until it was too late, that turning away from God could have such destructive and deadly consequences. 'It was not only because of technical reasons and unfortunate coincidences that we lost the war. It was not just ill luck and treason. Rather God has passed sentence on Hitler. He has passed it on him and his system which we served in a state of mind hostile to God.' He then implored that everything be done to warn others not to follow in his path. 'Not even one step,' he emphasized, since the way he followed was 'the way without God, the road from Christ, and in the final outcome the road of political stupidity, of disaster and death.'
Your destiny is that of a man, and your vows those of a god.
Affliction is not sent in vain, young man, from that good God, who chastens whom he loves.
If by any effort of reason I could conceive how God, Who shows so much anger and iniquity, could be merciful and just, there would be no need of faith.
Two women? God, man. Well, I'm still living. So clearly I must've gotten away with it, when I did do it. But I don't think it's time to blow my cover now.
Earth's crammed with heaven, And every common bush afire with God: But only he who sees takes off his shoes.
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

The wise man in the storm prays God, not for safety from danger, but for deliverance from fear.
Those who survived the San Francisco earthquake said, 'Thank God, I'm still alive.' But, of course, those who died, their lives will never be the same again.
It always strikes me, and it is very peculiar, that when we see the image of indescribable and unutterable desolation - of loneliness, of poverty and misery, the end of all things, or their extreme - then rises in our mind the thought of God.
Allah is in Himself the non-being and the being, the inexistent and the existent. He is at the same time that which we designate by absolute non-being and by absolute being or by relative non-being and relative being.... All these designation come back to God alone, for there is nothing which we can perceive, know, write or say which is not Him.
Doubt, rather than faith, is high among the causes of the religious boom. And the church's response to this current situation will reveal, better than anything else, our faith in God - or our faithlessness. If we churchmen interpret such pervasive doubt as a threat, then we will do as the church has done so often in the past we will substitute the church for God, and make our church-centered activities into an ersatz kingdom of God. Our faithlessness will be evident in the easy paraphrase of the hard truth of the gospel, and in the lapse from the critical loyalty that God requires of us, into the vague and corrupting sentimentalism that has so marred American Protestantism. Or the church can interpret the present religious situation as a promise, as God's recall of His people to a new reformation. Our faithfulness to God-in-Christ will be manifest in the willingness to be honest with ourselves and with the gospel. Then we may view the church, not as an end in itself, but as the point of departure into the world for which the Son of God died. Which will it be.
