Kate Looby Quotes (14 Quotes)

I think it sends a strange message to the people of South Dakota and people around the country.

While they are making political maneuvers, we're trying to fight for the women of South Dakota. I hate to envision the day when the women of South Dakota are treated differently than the women elsewhere when it comes to safe and legal health care.

We hope (Rounds) recognizes this for what it is a political tool and not about the health and safety of the women of South Dakota.

Obviously, we're very disappointed that Gov. Rounds has sided on the side of politics rather than on the side of the women of South Dakota to protect their health and safety.

That was one of the excuses that was given last time -- that Planned Parenthood was a political organization, therefore we could not be included. They're (Alpha Center) out there clearly lobbying and politically involved in that way.

This is a very real issue for a lot of people. That's the part I think the legislators don't quite understand.

Shock. Disappointment. As much as you prepare mentally for these things, when it actually happens, it's still very disturbing and unsettling.

There are links on there to Catholic Family Services, and there's nobody who's more political than the Catholic church in South Dakota.

We'll continue to provide access to family planning services, we'll continue to provide emergency contraception, and we'll continue to be open for safe and legal abortion care.

We consider emergency contraception something of a staple that ought to be in every woman's medicine cabinet just in case, whether it's a time where a condom breaks, you forgot to take a few pills, you forgot to put your patch on, or you have an incident of unwanted intercourse, forced intercourse.

The women of South Dakota will still be able to access safe and legal abortion as this case works its way through the court system.

This is an issue that is affecting real people's lives in this state and potentially around the country.

When you take things to the courts you don't have the opportunity to engage the public in the process. You don't have the ability to build a movement.

Women in the western side of the state don't think about abortion until they need to, and then they're completely shocked that there's no way to receive that care unless they go to Sioux Falls.
