    It was the perfect way to begin the year. We had a very exciting race for the spectators. As we thought from testing, there are four teams fighting to win at any type of circuit - Honda, McLaren, Ferrari and Renault. We can all win races, so it will be a fun time in the coming weeks.

    In Spain, three years ago, there was no coverage for the races. Now we have 7 million people watching the race and Barcelona is completely full.

    Knowing what it takes to win a title, I think they need a year running at the top first. Next year is more realistic for them. They'll make a big step at some point.

    We don't have the quickest car but we're taking the opportunities McLaren is giving to us. Tomorrow I hope to have a good start and can even think to win the race.

    Things change. It's a new story. Renault has been my family from the time I came into formula one. I gave them a lot and they gave me a lot. But I think I've finished a stage in my career. When you come to the end of a contract you can choose and I've chosen what I believe is the best team for my future. But it's important to leave in the best possible way. The motivation for this season is even higher because we have the No1 and No2 on the car.

    I'm sure they'll help me like they've always helped me and that nothing will really change. I don't think it's in Renault's plans to help one driver more than the other, and I'm 100 confident with the team in our ability to defend both our titles this year.

    Honda, Ferrari, McLaren and Renault have been the four big teams in winter testing, and now we must check in the opening races.

    We seem to be in good shape. The Renault feels nice to drive and our pace is good. I think we are in a similar position to the other races this season - aiming for the top position.

    It was always a dream to win the Formula One title. It's the maximum that I have ever achieved in my life.

    As Michael said, it was difficult to overtake, almost impossible unless you make a mistake.

    I expect there will be a lot of attention, a lot of questions, a lot of cameras when we get there. But when I get in the car, then I will be working like normal.

    I never thought I would be able to achieve so much in such a short space of time but I am not thinking about records,

    The conditions were not perfect, quite windy and the track was a little bit dirty. We all have our fingers crossed to avoid a wet track, but if it rains it will be the first time we are all in the wet in 2006 and we'll see how the cars behave.

    I knew Juan Pablo was quicker, ... I knew I had no chance to fight because today was no risk. It was not easy, I was extremely careful in overtaking. Every one was a risky moment.

    I won the championship with maybe not the best car, so I am proud of what I did. The fact that I have taken over the title from Michael Schumacher is a bonus.     It is very difficult to win a championship, and you need a lot of things around you to have the chance. Last year, I started the season dreaming of, maybe, winning one race and getting regular podiums, but we won the title. In 2006, I know we have a competitive car in the R26, so my only goal is to repeat the title.

    All season has been a dream come true for Renault, even more because it is four years since Renault came into Formula One and now we are champions. It was not an easy job to do.

    Things seem closer between us and McLaren than they have been in the last few races, and although it will be very difficult to beat them, maybe it's not impossible.
