It was a good come-from-behind-win. I thought every pitcher that threw well today. Troy has a good baseball team and it was a good win for us today.

He is still a few weeks away from being able to pitch effectively. We felt that he needed to take the extra time and fully allow his arm to gain strength before he pitched. I also believe it wasn't fair to him to bring him back for half a season when he can come back and pitch two full seasons at full strength.

We got good starting pitching every time out. We swung the bats pretty good, but it all starts on that mound.

It came down to starting pitching and we didn't get any and we didn't make the plays. I'm as frustrated as I've even been with the starting pitching. We have had one quality start in the last eight games and that will not get it done.

It's really a poor excuse for college baseball on our part. It's things we work on every day. It's pretty evident to me that the lack of experience is hurting us. If you look out on the field, it's all happening with guys that have not played in big conference series. It's all happening to them. We're really struggling.

That probably cost us the game (Sunday). It's frustrating.

Marc likes challenges whether it's schoolwork or baseball. If they were all as self-motivated as Marc Maddox, on and off the field, it'd be really easy to coach.

I said all along that if he was not going to be ready to assume his rightful place in the rotation than we wouldn't pitch him, and that's what we decided. I talked with Mike and his family, and everybody's in agreement.

We played hard and we played smart. You didn't catch us in any mental errors for the first time in five games. I thought everything was clicking.

He made a good pitch. Coghlan fought it off and got it into left field and that was the game. We had an opportunity. We had our closer in there, who is one of the best there is, and didn't get it done.

Pretty much the same song, different verse from last night for us. It's just really a poor excuse for college baseball on our part.

I am proud of our players for the way they fought and held on for the win in today's game. Marc was down on himself after making the two errors but it was great to see him make a tremendous play when he had to.

He's really struggling. I don't know what's going on. We're trying to do everything we can to straighten it out, and he's working hard to straighten it out. Our coaches are working with him. We thought he'd be one of our top guys. He's going to have to get himself back going.

We didn't make the play on the bunt and it snowballed from there. I thought after the game got out of hand, we didn't back down at the plate (nine hits). We just didn't get the starting pitching. In baseball has always started and ended with starting pitching. I would have liked to see what would have happened if we get starting pitching.

We've gotten one quality start in our last eight games. That's asking too much out of our offense.

Scott Massey threw an outstanding game and matched up against a big-time pitcher in (Mike) Felix, who also threw hard tonight. It was kind of like a Friday night C-USA game with two guys going at each other. We were able to get some runs early, and Scott was able to hold us up.

Right now, I don't want to mess with our chemistry. I'm not saying it's always going to be that way, but I don't think we need to fool with that.

He's got some growing to do, I hope. He's kind of got a rangy body we need some bulk on it. We've got to get some weight on him. That's going to be a big thing, for him to get a little stronger.

Since we turned the corner as a program in 2002, I don't worry about playing freshmen any more. If they're good enough, and need to be out there, they're going to be out there.

The big four-spot in the fourth inning was huge, especially with the weather we played in. We weren't going to hit any out of the park or off the wall.

This was Cliff's best outing of the year. He pitched well by mixing up his pitches and kept them off balance. That was a big lift for him to beat a good team like Troy. It was a good day for him and for us as we got some timely hits late in the game to score some runs.

A lot of guys had a good time. That was good. We got after it a little better and moved the ball around. It's evident that Cuevas has power and we have to find him a spot. We're moving our lineup a lot and reckon we will until conference play.

We filmed him and worked with him. I don't know. I think he's just going to have to repeat his delivery better. He's not doing that. He'll throw one good pitch and two bad ones.
