    It wasn't that bad, but I made a few mistakes out there. It's been a hectic week as tournament host, but now it's all over and when I woke up this morning I thought now I'm inside the ropes and nobody's chasing me.


    Today, I was playing very aggressive. The fairways are quite wide and it's also very wet. You don't get a lot of roll. You hit it somewhere and know it's going to stop there.

    Honestly, I didn't feel like I'm here to prove anything. I know where I am on the money list. I'm here to reach my own goals, play my own golf. I see this as an opportunity to win this tournament for the fifth time.

    Luckily I had a little cushion, and at the end it seemed like I needed it, ... For me, a win is a win. I thought I played excellent the first two days. It's a tough golf course and a lot of things are shaping up for the end of year. So this meant a lot to me.

    I like this golf course, ... I shoot under par here because I'm making my putts. I feel confident when I come here and I think that's important.

    It's always nice to get off to a good start and get some momentum for the week. It's no fun getting off to a rotten start. You have to fight back all the way, and you don't feel like you can make any mistakes.

    I'm in a little bit of a different position than last year, but having said that, I think I'm in great shape for tomorrow. It seems like I like this golf course. I'm going to go out and enjoy it tomorrow as well.

    Honestly, I don't feel like I'm here to prove anything. I'm here to play golf. I know where I'm at on the money list. You know where I'm at. I'm here to reach my own goals, play my own game. I don't look at it that way. I see it as an opportunity for me.

    I felt good coming into the round. I was hitting the ball really well. I didn't really get off to the start I had in mind. I had difficulty scoring and then on the back nine, the wind picked up and it got really difficult.

    I just thought that is pretty neat. She comes from a small town, just like I do, and I thought, 'Wow If she can do that, maybe I can follow my dreams and one day be able to follow her path.

    Today, the putter let me down a few times. I want to have a score that reflects how I'm playing.

    If you think about it, the golf ball doesn't know which country you're in.

    I'm more than pleased, ... I feel great. I wouldn't use the word relieved, but this means so much to me to win this championship.

    Sometimes you can't do a thing about it. You just have to try and keep on grinding and hope that things will turn around eventually.

    She's got talent. She can really hit the ball. She's got a great head on her shoulders. She's really strong and her attitude is really something great.

    I'm not so disappointed. I think J.J. just played incredible. I think she would have been very hard to catch today. So my hat's off to her. She played excellent.

    Obviously, endurance is going to play a role, there's no doubt about it. It's a hilly course and you've got to be in good shape, especially if the temperatures are up there. If we get the humidity, it could be quite tough. Having said that, I'm glad that

    I thought yesterday was a long day, one of the longest days on the golf course. It's really hard to stay focused, especially on a course like this.

    Three-under after two weeks of really no golf, I can't complain,

    I'm just looking forward to two years, ... We're going to get that cup back.

    I think just playing aggressive helped me today. I hit a lot of shots close and took advantage of the par-fives.

    It's only Thursday I have three more days. I'm looking forward to it. I still feel good about my game. Today it was almost. It was very, very close, but not really it. And right now, I don't really know what I've got to do to make it a great one, maybe make a few putts, maybe hit a few drives.

    I wasn't expecting to make that one. But it rolled in and I said, 'you know what, it's turning around, I'm going to make some now,'

    I wanted to get close to the pin without putting the bunker in play. All of a sudden he just kept talking about a straight shot. I don't know how many times you hit a straight shot in golf. It's very seldom. You either work it right to left or left to right, depending on the pin.

    A lot of things have happened since 2001, ... I'm happy to be back, and I've not played this golf course before. This is kind of close to my home in Tahoe, so it's about time I came back.

    I really did not play very well today unfortunately, ... I hit a few bad shots and it was a tough day at the office really.

    I did make an incredibly hot start to the year and to have won eight times worldwide means I've had a great season,


    It's very important, ... And why is it important Because that motivates me, and that pushes me. If I can visualize something, then it is easier for me to work there. But if I just said, 'Hey, I want to be a better player,' well, what does that mean I need to see things. Goals are things I can understand, I can touch.

    I don't know what happened there. I played the 15th well and I felt good on the 16th tee when I hit the ball, but when I looked up I saw the ball going into the trees.

    It was just one of those days. I am happy with the way I am playing, I just couldn't get it together today. I'm just glad I made birdie on the last hole. Hopefully I can turn it around.

    I don't think you ever get used to it. This is a great week for her and I hope she enjoys it.

    This is a tough golf course. I thought the pins were tough. We had some wind, not a lot but just enough when it comes to club selection.

    I am working as hard in the gym as ever, and I feel as strong as ever. Knock on wood, I haven't had any injuries. I have learned so much the last few years.

    I came from far behind today. I did not really expect anything, especially when you see people like Paula and Cristie up there. They're winners. They've done this before.

    Yesterday I walked off feeling I'd left some shots out there,

    I'm excited to be here. It's great to be back as a defending champion. I think the golf course is in as good shape as I've ever seen it. I think that makes it even more special. I think I'm as ready as I can be.

    She'll be hungry tomorrow and just might pull it off, but I'm hungry too. I'm going to chase her all day long ... play as aggressive as I have to or be conservative, whatever it takes.

    I like to walk so maybe the first six-seven holes, it was like, 'you can't really find the rhythm. I do think it sped up play a little bit.

    I did miss a few in the middle of the round, but when you make some, it feels better,


    When I come to a tournament I set really high goals and I come here to do the best I can. I don't know if I'm being rude if I win my own tournament, but I'm just a very competitive person and I love to do well. Today was a step in the right direction and one of my better rounds in about a month so I feel really good.

    It wasn't the finish I wanted, but sometimes you just take what you've got. I was trying to make a few more birdies, but it didn't happen.

    Obviously I'm in a position that I want to be. I like this golf course. I had a good (round) last year on Sunday. I'm going to keep that in my mind.

    That's the new generation, ... I think we should welcome them all and say, 'Hey, that's good for golf.'

    I don't know what to say about this round, ... I thought I played pretty good today. It just didn't go my way at all.
