It's more the mind-set than anything else. Instead of using their height as a disadvantage, they use it as an advantage. Obviously, they've made it work.

    We've got to be in position to contend shots. If we can, we've got a chance. If we can't, it's going to be a tough day.

    In all honesty, I think Jared is an acquired taste. You have to watch him for a long period of time to appreciate what he does. There is nothing he does that is going to wow you. He's not tremendous at anything, but he's very, very good at all things.

    He draws a lot of attention and makes good decisions. He's a senior, so we're going to try to get the ball in his hands as much as we can.

    It increases our chances of succeeding. To play four straight days against this level of competition and expect to win, I think, is impossible. To do it three straight days is tough.

    Looking at it right from the top, it looks like we should have switched spots. But I'm not going to sit and whine about it because there are a lot of teams sitting home that would love to be in our position.

    We went flat and started coasting after the 7-1 lead after two innings. But I thought we played pretty good for the first game of the season.

    His drive is really that he wants to compete against the best and be one of the best. Most great players, that's what the inner beast is in them. They want to conquer that and show they walk with the best.

So this league has evolved and hopefully we bring some credibility to it, and people would appreciate the quality of basketball that we're playing and those other new schools are playing.

    We've obviously got to play some games without him. So we're proceeding as if we're playing without him and getting ourselves prepared, with the understanding that if he comes back, he's only going to improve our situation.

    The thing I learned most from New York was to compete. I didn't want to hear anything, and I knew if I won then nobody could talk to trash to me. If I win then I'm in control.

    The easiest way is to score points, but when you don't do that, there are other things you can do. Hustle plays like the tip-in or offensive rebounds on missed free throws, plays like that can make a difference, and they did for us this afternoon.

    I've got a great appreciation for the focus they've brought. We didn't start off as well as we would've liked in the league. For us to be in the championship game after 0-3 ... it's a tremendous credit for all the guys on this club.

    We weren't patient enough. We settled. There were some opportunities on the perimeter, but you don't have to settle for the shot. You can still drive the ball to the basket. That's the strength of our club.

    I know on paper, (tonight's game) may not look like a very good contest, but we're going to be more than ready to face them. I don't understand why they are (in last place). I think they're a talented team.

    They put a lot of pressure on us, and we turned the ball over probably a little bit more than we wanted to. But when we were able to get the ball to the areas that we wanted to, we had good looks at the basket. At times they overextended and gave us some good looks, and we were able to put the ball in the basket.
