What began the change was the very writing itself. Let no one lightly set about such a work. Memory, once waked, will play the tyrant.

'Tis the soldier's life to have their balmy slumbers waked with strife.
I'd have gone for the head of the snake the on first night, ... I'd have turned the lights out the first night. I'd have dropped the bridges across the Danube. I'd have hit five or six politicalmilitary headquarters in downtown Belgrade. (Yugoslav President Slobodan) Milosevic and his cronies would have waked up the first morning asking what the hell was going on.
Methought I saw my late espoused saint Brought to me, like Alcestis, from the grave, Whom Jove's great son to her glad husband gave, Rescued from death by force, though pale and faint. Mine, as whom washed from spot of child-bed taint Purification in the Old Law did save, And such, as yet once more I trust to have Full sight of her in Heav'n without restraint, Came vested all in white, pure as her mind Her face was veiled, yet to my fancied sight Love, sweetness, goodness, in her person shined So clear, as in no face with more delight. My keeper fish were all on the keeper hook, and that's scary. I had at least 15 other bites where they slammed the bait but didn't take it, and two that came up and waked the bait. They just wouldn't take it, but the wind was my friend this week.
All flowers will droop in absences of the sun that waked their sweets.
Hands that the rod of empire might have sway'd, Or waked to ecstasy the living lyre.
'Tis the voice of the sluggard; I heard him complain, you have waked me too soon, I must slumber again.
That, if then I had waked after a long sleep, will make me sleep again and then, in dreaming, the clouds me thought would open and show riches ready to drop upon me that, when I waked I cried to dream again.
The soul of music slumbers in the shell Till waked and kindled by the master's spell And feeling hearts, touch them but rightly, pour A thousand melodies unheard before.
There's little of the melancholy element in her, my lord. She is never sad but when she sleeps, and not ever sad then for I have heard my daughter say she hath often dreamt of unhappiness and waked herself with laughing.
