The primacy of the word, basis of the human psyche, that has in our age been used for mind-bending persuasion and brain-washing pulp, disgraced by Gobbles and debased by advertising copy, remains a force for freedom that flies out between all bars.

The unread story is not a story; it is little black marks on wood pulp. The reader, reading it, makes it live: a live thing, a story.
You read a script and its based on 'Reservoir Dogs' and 'Pulp Fiction', and it goes right in the bin.
Generally, (Evergreen) releases them in bursts, like when equipment breaks or (through) other pulp mill problems. And if you're breathing (PM-10s), they can lodge very deeply in the lungs and are absorbed in the blood stream and can have very toxic effects on the body.
I wasn't trying to top Pulp Fiction with Jackie Brown. I wanted to go underneath it and make a more modest character study movie.
The many magazines, ranging from pulp to slick, that used to serve as both farm teams for writers and lures to readers, with hundreds of short stories every month, don't exist. Most of the doors for new people have been sealed.
Like everybody at that age, I read an awful lot of pulp fiction. But at the same time, I also read quite a bit of history and read that as much for pleasure as part of a curriculum.
The great physician, Dr. Henry G. Armitage, Jr., states, 'Not without comment shall it come to pass that a state (so fretful for the preservation of the praying mantis but holding an unborn baby to be of no account) can send a spark of immortality swinging out into limbo and conspire with citizen and physician to turn a fragile, living object of simple innocence and complex wonder into a pathetic pulp and consign it by rude and peremptory passage to the furnace or sewer unknown, unwanted and undefended.' He further questions how a woman as 'the fertile adornment of our race can be deluded into the notion that she is a mere poetress of unwanted luggage or be by blandishment seduced into believing that she has dominion over life not her own.' He says, 'An abortion is never commonplace, for the world holds no heartbreak like the death of innocence.'
The nut of this tree is hung high aloft, wrapped in a silk wrapper, which is enclosed in a case of sole leather, which again is packed in a mass of shock absorbing, vermin proof pulp, sealed up in a waterproof, ironwood case, and finally cased in a vegetable porcupine of spines, almost impregnable. There is no nut so protected there is no nut in our woods to compare with it as food. What is a Chesnut.
I don't think Pulp Fiction is hard to watch at all.
It's not highly intellectual material. I'm dedicating it to the pulp fiction of the past.
It seems to me we have been in a rhetorical arms race in this country, with each side unwilling to lay down its weapons for fear - usually justified - the other side would beat them to a pulp.
It's got the same structure as the film, in some sense, ... but the twists and turns David came up with are quite different. It's a more subtle and more layered look at human behavior, not just a pulp fiction tale.
There, milk and matter,
strength-giving, nutritious
cornmeal pulp,
you were worked and patted
by the wondrous hands
of dark-skinned women.
I'm not, you know, Ronald McDonald opening up this Kmart or something. Rather than asking me for my autograph, you're actually watching a movie with me. If you want to sit there and talk about how to get into the business and ask me questions about 'Pulp Fiction' I'm not going to be very responsive. I'll probably shut you down. All right But if you want to talk to me about the movie we just showed and what you thought about it, I'll talk to you all (expletive) night.
Absurdity is what I like most in life, and there's humor in struggling in ignorance. If you saw a man repeatedly running into a wall until he was a bloody pulp, after a while it would make you laugh because it becomes absurd.
