    The library was like a second home. Or maybe more like a real home, more than the place I lived in. By going every day I got to know all the lady librarians who worked there. They knew my name and always said hi. I was painfully shy, though, and could barely reply.

    Given this and the fact that K12 spending nationally is going up at four times the rate of inflation, we see no need and no benefit from cutting librarians and libraries in order to reach the 65 percent goal.


    Children 10 and under are invited to dress as a story book character to win a cash prize. This year we have four local school librarians to be the judges. I am anxious to see what the big character will be this year.
