    We've really had a rough couple of months of basketball and it's been tough and draining. I'm very proud of the girls because they've persevered. They've come out ready to play every night and they haven't had a letdown.


    Lowe's was maybe a bit of a letdown this morning, and the other retailers and some of the homebuilding stocks are down. The Dow transportation average is also weak today, despite UAL's gains. Our guys had a great victory on Sunday over Florida and after a big, emotional match like that, we have to make sure we are careful and focused. We certainly want to avoid a letdown.


    I'm proud of the progress we've made. We should have won that game, up by six, and that letdown when things started to go in the wrong direction, we lost our confidence. Even the girls said, when one thing happens, it kind of bombards us, and we have to learn from it.

    One thing we talked about is being an inexperienced team, when you get adversity, everybody's got to come together and pick it up. I think when they saw Laura go down, who's one of our tougher kids, the kids had a little bit of an emotional letdown.

    I hesitate to say there was a letdown, since we did have two solid practices (after the Northwest Catholic game), but we have to get the mindset that everything is earned every point, every rebound, every accolade. It would be foolish to expect just to show up. We have to play the game, and especially in this conference, the match-up on paper is meaningless.

    We just need to keep playing like we have been playing and not take anybody for granted. We have to play four quarters of basketball. We can't have any type of letdown.

    We played terrible (against Zanesville). I don't know what it was. The letdown might have been a good thing for us, but I think we have the potential to be a really good basketball team.

    Our start to the game was OK. But the second quarter, they had 32 (points) and we couldn't keep them under 30 after that. They played great offensively. During this 15-game period, we've competed hard on a consistent basis and tonight we had a letdown from that.

    It was two different teams. (Friday) night I felt we came out ready to play, and that was a big game for us. One thing I was afraid of was having a physical and emotional letdown, and I felt that definitely happened today. The feeling in the locker room before the game was mellow, and there wasn't much talk about basketball. Rice Lake came out and got after us. That's what good teams do.
