    There was a time when the church was very powerful. It was during that period when the early Christians rejoiced when they were deemed worthy to suffer for what they believed.     I can appreciate that on one side, but we have to remember that the system is designed corruptly, and works against us, so you cant convict those who can benefit from the system, because its not neccesarily their fault.





    No matter how corrupt and unjust a convict may be, he loves fairness more than anything else. If the people placed over him are unfair, from year to year he lapses into an embittered state characterized by an extreme lack of faith.


    In this we're giving the House every benefit of the doubt. And if more than one-third of the senators say ... under no circumstances, no matter what they prove, will I vote to convict, the question arises, do you go through the whole trial



    You can't sort of split the baby by saying, well, he's guilty but we're not going to convict him. It would be unconstitutional to have a findings of fact that suggests the president is guilty but we're not going to convict him, and do it not by a two-thirds majority but by a simple majority.
