Some of the greatest teams that I've had the privilege of coaching have come into this building and really gotten drilled. For our little militia to come in here and fight and scrap and claw and do what they needed to do to stay into the game, I can't even begin to tell you how proud I am.

It's pretty subtle ... that burden of anxiety off my back. I can focus, I am definitely more creative and I have a space of support around me, whereas before I would just have this adversarial claw on my back.

All these things have you said of beauty. Yet in truth you spoke not of her but of needs unsatisfied, And beauty is not a need but an ecstasy. It is not a mouth thirsting nor an empty hand stretched forth, But rather a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted. It is not the image you would see nor the song you would hear, But rather an image you see though you close your eyes and a song you hear though you shut your ears. They must be grappled with unceasingly, for it is a fateful part of human destiny that it is condemned to wage perpetual war against ghosts. A shade is not easily taken by the throat and destroyed.

We'll get back to work tomorrow and we'll understand that we'll have a team coming in that isn't worried about playing us. I don't think any team is going to come in concerned or afraid of playing us right now. We just have to find a way to scrap and claw out of this little hole ourselves.

This team is not one that's going to roll over and go away. We're going to scratch, we're going to claw, we're going to put good at-bats together, try to get a couple of runs here and there, bite into the deficit a little bit and punch ahead. Tonight it worked out.

Their pitching staff is as good as any team in baseball. You don't want to fall behind them, but unfortunately, we did. We were able to scratch and claw for a couple of late runs.
