What you do not wish to do out of delusion you shall do even that against your will, bound by your own nature-born Karma, O Arjuna.
What you do not wish to do out of delusion you shall do even that against your will, bound by your own nature-born Karma, O Arjuna.
Because the calm person, who is not afflicted by these feelings and is steady in pain and pleasure, becomes fit for immortality, O Arjuna.
Divine qualities lead to nirvana, the demonic qualities are said to be for bondage. Do not grieve, O Arjuna, you are born with divine qualities.
Arjuna saw the entire universe, divided in many ways, but standing as all in One and One in all in the body of Krishna, the God of gods.
O Arjuna, now behold the entire creation animate, inanimate, and whatever else you like to see all at one place in My body.
If you think that this (body) takes birth and dies perpetually, even then, O Arjuna, you should not grieve like this.
As long as you have attachment to the body and attachment to objects, fear and suffering will be with you. Therefore, Krishna told Arjuna to develop his discrimination and rid himself of body consciousness. He told him that once he was free of body consciousness he would be able to develop integral vision. Embodiments of Love, Mankind today has three types of vision. The first is body oriented vision, which is totally superficial. When you have this kind of vision you see only the external appearance of others, such as the clothes and the ornaments they wear, their facial features, their body characteristics, their peculiarities of speech, etc. This type of vision is oriented only towards the phenomenal world. The second kind of vision is insightful vision.
Seeing fathers-in-law, all those kinsmen, and other dear ones standing in the ranks of the two armies, Arjuna was overcome with great compassion and sorrowfully said O Krishna, seeing my kinsmen standing with a desire to fight, My limbs fail and my mouth becomes dry. My body quivers and my hairs stand on end.
Your enemies will speak many unmentionable words and scorn your ability. What could be more painful than this You will go to heaven if killed, or you will enjoy the earth if victorious. Therefore, get up with a determination to fight, O Arjuna.
As God talked with Arjuna, so will He talk with you. As He lifted up the spirit and consciousness of Arjuna, so will He uplift you. As he granted Arjuna supreme spiritual vision, so will He confer enlightenment on you.
After taking such a birth, O Arjuna, one regains the knowledge acquired in the previous life, and strives again to achieve perfection.
Then Arjuma saw in both armies fathers, grandfathers, sons, grandsons fathers of wives, uncles, masters brothers companions and friends.... When Arjuna thus saw his kinsmen face to face in both lines of battle, he was overcome by grief and despair and thus he spoke with a sinking heart.
Remembering whatever object one leaves the body at the end of life, one attains that object, O Arjuna, because of the constant thought of that object (one remembers that object at the end of life and achieves it).
All beings in this world are in utter ignorance due to the delusion of dualities born of likes and dislikes, O Arjuna.
Therefore, resort to Karma-yoga and cut the ignorance-born doubt abiding in your heart by the sword of Self-knowledge, and get up (to fight), O Arjuna.
Wherever there is Krishna, the lord of yoga, and Arjuna, the archer, I think, there will surely be, victory, welfare and morality.
