Thumbing his nose
showing the sole
the blood of his boots
in the face of the world
Claiming cease-fire
yet killing his people
fighting in the cities
Mistrata, Ajdabiya and Zintan
while the world sets to enforce
so little, so late
I pray it will be enough

to act in the Middle East, especially in Libya and Bahrain,
to stand with the people
yearning to breathe free
and not worrying about the results,
that it is always right to stand for basic human rights

on the transformations since the beginning of January –
all the protests in Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Oman,
Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Palestinian Territories, Djibouti, Mauritania, Senegal, Saudi Arabia, etc.
