A different walk now
on Turtle Island, her people’s name
for this land of my ancestors too
generations long past; but her stories
vivid, pure, based on oral traditions.
A reverence for the land, for father Eagle,
the water, the wind, around the fire.
Her people, “the people”, here eternally
living, walking on Turtle Island
