Through the remembering
through the awful night
pain which they lived through
the steady reminder, the repeated connection
the baptism of Christ, the living waters of the Jordan
connected to their memories, to their homeland
across the waters, to the shores of the river
to the waters in which they would soon be washed
Joy in our hearts, in the sharing, in the joining
in the remembering of our baptism
of our steps of faith
dying with Christ, that darkness
but the rising, the rising into the light
into the new day, a new creation
beloved of God, each one of us
joining in his death, in his ministry,
joining in his resurrection
His good news to share
all around the world
