Perfect pitch, cadence,
absolute astonishment, urgent
forthright utterance
from the mouth of the imp
A quick realization
by mom, jaw dropped,
that her hands were Kelly green
and it wouldn’t wash out
at least not right away.
Shanequa!
“No mommy, I didn’t do it;
it was the leprechauns!!”
And so it was, those rascals
who made her hands green
(and anything she touched
while they were yet wet)
