Society once believed
the laws say so
better to have us dwelling
living in our own homes
But some need assistance
aides and funding
services for those disabled
for the innocents among us
struggling just to survive
The budget removing
all hope for these people
those who will die hungry
or sleeping in shelters
Those who cannot live alone
who need services
those who have no one else
who need our love, compassion
the threads of the safety net
