Setting his face toward Jerusalem
knowing the cross ahead, waiting for him
these days of journey, walking with Christ
hopeful days, our greatest hope
recognizing, knowing we are the ashes
the dust, knowing we need God’s grace
hope, not in our confidence, not in our works
only in the saving grace of the sacrifice,
the offering of the savior, the messiah,
Starting this journey, of our faith
these forty some days, in the wilderness;
but walking with the Christ
hearing his footsteps beside our own
walking through Galilee, with the people
walking toward Jerusalem,
leading us, onward, ever
toward the cross, toward the grave
ever toward bright Easter morn
