Technically it is an oxidation
a patina of green over the
pure metal beneath
some would argue
a mere fact of the aging process
The green is the soul
the anima
the living skin
over the sculpted and cast face or body
capturing the spark of life
within the subject,
the reason for its existence
Have you seen this truth
when you have looked
at the living statues
clothed in green copper?
