Give me, O Lord, the patience to progress
And give resolve to my too feeble faith.
May thy spirit guide me in thy holy path
And shield me from all lapse and recklessness.
Give me, O Lord, the courage I require
In good and ill and perseverance too.
Rekindle all my hope and trust in you
And cleanse my heart of every vain desire.
Keep me from trespass and duplicity,
Forsaking every pleasure save in thee.
Deliver me from every false passion,
From anger, delusion and all wrongdoing;
Let me bear witness through the suffering
Of a faithful heart and deeds well done.
