Child: reet ower t’ brow
O’ Warlock Rise
Wheer there is nought
But walls an’ skies
I saw a dark witch
Gropin’ an’ groaning,
A lambkin bleated,
A yow was moaning.
Mother: Lile Honey Heart,
It’s some owd thorn,
Bent by t’ wind,
An’ gnarled an’ lorn.
Child: Then I saw her
In Warlock Lane,
She scratched my hands
Again an’ again;
Mother no more,
I’ll go a-roaming
Up on t’ moor
At t’ edge o’ gloaming.
Mother: Lile Honey Heart,
Let me draw t’ blind,
Noo bring thi hands
For me to bind.
