There were boxes
every shape and size
attic, basement, storage space
still, quiet, frozen in time
forgotten boxes of shards and fragments
treasured memories rediscovered
inconvenient parts too
things painful to keep
awkward to discard
hard to open, connect the pieces
aged, weathered boxes, yellowed tape
dust covered, water stained cardboard
memories in boxes
forgotten parts of me
who I was, who I am
