Hangover of pearl white snow
Gray ice losing power
Brown dirt, clear leaves, rotting
Wet dark chocolate, rich humus
Eyes seek, hope, are drawn
A bit of green, amidst the end,
detritus of winter.
New shoot, sprout
Triumphant, persistent
Burst the seal,
Strove for air, light
Warmth of the morning/ cool of night
Spring, reasserting itself
Waking from slumber.
