In Sunday School, a lesson,
on meaning of words, the difference they make
and the learning in the difference
one version said that you would lose “your life”
another that you would lose “your soul”
So different, if you read life for the temporal,
the physical, the blood, the bone, the tissue
of the corporal body, the sinew and the breath
the breath of life in the living body
But the soul and life is you, the difference you make
the living that you do, the choices you make
in life, to follow whose path, to bow down
to which idol, or which God. So telling the
different meaning, if we miss the point
of what life is. We are to live like each is our last
with a loving heart, with no regrets, for no
slight or harshness left, lingering after our passing
because that is living, as the servant Messiah
did, the best role model in history
