I’ve preserved my most intimate missive at the root of the tree
All my kinship is in its midst
For the found water was poured here
And the lashes of winter and summer on its limbs.
The mosaic of fruits and flowers,
The sparkle of sun and shadow say
What a delight, what joy,
I’ve tasted the anguish
That’s veiled under broken ribs,
Beauty radiates from that fount
So I’ve laid out my love on dust and soil.
