The better part of every life,
Is spent in making friends,
The years leave many broken things,
That only kindness mends!
The slender chain of gold that links
Two hearts can hold its own,
A burden shared is lighter
Than the one we bear alone!
Somehow the road grows shorter,
Walking hand and hand,
Seeing tenderness in eyes,
That truly understand!
