Ryan Newman Quotes (110 Quotes)

Everyone has had their tail whipped at some time. Our definitely has taken a beating lately, but you have to get back up and try harder.

Any judgment call is not good in racing. That's the bottom line. They could penalize you for good racing.

I think he's got a great attitude. He's very much like me in that he's sarcastic. Some sarcastic people get it, and other people think it's cocky.

Like I said, I'm better off having a teammate that doesn't even talk to me or does anything than one that works against me, and that's what I've had to deal with the last five years.

There were times and places where the Charger was good last year, and there were times and places it wasn't.

Kurt proved last year that winning the championship is all about consistency, so that's what we're aiming for in the next 10 weeks, ... A few wins can't hurt, though, and that's what we'll be aiming for this weekend.

I hate Rusty Wallace. Oh, sorry. I can't get that out of my blood. What I meant to say is that Jimmie Johnson is a cheater. I was nose-to-tail with the No. 48 car for much of the day, and, using the knowledge obtained in my engineering studies at Purdue University, I was able to pinpoint several violations. For example, using only the naked eye, I could tell that the rear spoiler was 132 of an inch too high, and the inspection sticker on his license plate had clearly expired.

We'd rather be first, but getting into the Chase was the goal. What you try to do every week now is have no DNFs, get a few wins and have good results each week.

I locked the brakes up and got into the wall, but there was no way to miss the crash. It's typical Phoenix off Turn 4. When one car gets spun, everybody does.

You know, it's just disappointing. I think a lot of Jimmie Johnson, his talent and stuff, but I'm pretty sure at least three out of his last four, if not three out of his last three, wins have had conflictions with the cars being illegal.

(But) I really enjoy qualifying here at night. The car was pretty stout.

It's just disappointing. I'm pretty sure three out of Johnson's last four wins have come with the cars being illegal. I think the point should be driven home that if we have repeat offenders or a situation happens time and time again with a certain individual, something more should be done other than a suspension.

It did get into Victory Lane, but it's hit and miss with Dodge. We proved that last year.

Hey, this could still be the first opportunity to pull away a victory if the thing is still illegal.

It's just disappointing. I think a lot of Jimmie Johnson and his talent ... but I'm pretty sure that three of his past four wins have had conflict with the cars being illegal. It's not necessarily good for the sport.

We understand the importance of brand identification, but manufacturer identification can override that.

The point that should be driven home, if we have repeat offenders or the situation happens time and time again with a certain individual, there's something more should be done than suspension.

It was good, not great. We'll just see if we can put 400 laps under us tomorrow night that will be important. I think we have a good shot.

That's definitely cool. I read some of the stats of what the history was with Sam Ard doing it, and it's pretty cool.

I think every driver wants to lead 400 laps, ... We'd love to lead the first one to get those bonus points and lead 399 more after that.

It was not the performance we wanted, but we got part of the main goal solved Saturday night and look forward to the last 10 races,

It wasn't the day we wanted here at Atlanta. We never got a good handle on the car. It went from tight to loose. There was no grip there a couple of times. We kept working on it, but we never could get it right.

I told Matt, 'You give me a straight arrow and I'll shoot it,' ... They keep giving me straight arrows. I'm out here representing the team.

That's another top ten and that was good, ... We've had five top-10's in six Chase races now, but it's going to take some wins and top fives in these final four races.

The bottom line is, for us, we don't have to do that. We can beat everybody else with our knowledge and intelligence. Doing what they did with their car, it was pretty archaically uneducated and just a poor choice of cheating.

We raced for the win today, ... Tony raced me clean and I felt like we raced him clean. He had a fast car all day, but we were able to get it done.

I've got the numbers in my head I know what I've got to do. If I win the race, that answers all of the questions.

I know first-hand that I didn't intentionally hit him and I was really shocked,

I won't say surprised, ... because we've done it here before, but it's the product of having good equipment, good people and me hitting my marks. There were a couple times I got a little loose and had to correct, but it's nice to be able to run up front like that.

I really felt my first lap was really good, but I felt I left a little bit on the table, ... They give you two laps in qualifying, and you never know if the first lap is going to be better or the second lap. There's no reason not to try.

It's clear that Jarrett's actions were intentional, ... Just look on my rear bumper it's obvious that is UPS brown paint. Just as in the criminal world, Jarrett's intent makes him fully culpable for his actions. Lucky for him, I'm still battling for a spot in the Chase. Otherwise, he could expect a damaged car andor a damaged face.

Being stuck back there all day in dirty air just worked against us, ... We had a top-five finish at Charlotte a fifth in the wreck-plagued Coca-Cola 600, so hopefully we'll turn this performance around next weekend. We're still in the hunt for the title, so we'll just put this one behind us.

I think the track is in good shape. It's a blast to drive actually. I love driving it. It's just like the old Charlotte, it just has more grip.

We just lost track position there for a while, ... When you're restarting 20th or 26th, or whatever it was there, it just makes it really difficult to pass. Luckily (the caution) came out at the right time for us, when we were getting ready to pit. We gained a lot of track position got ourselves in the top five and obviously, we held our own there at that point.

Going into Texas, I look forward to going back as the defending winner, but that doesn't mean a whole lot when it comes to different teams and another opportunity to win the race. I just look forward to that as well as the IROC race.

Going into California, just because we're in third (in points), we can come out of California 33rd in points.

In hindsight, yeah, I think we're all a little surprised, ... But we had our race to run.

I don't want to brag and I don't want to sound cocky, but we could have been seven for seven this year.

Biffle has a ton of talent, ... He's obviously a very, very car-control style of driver. He likes to hang the car out, which is totally cool as long as you can control it. He's proven this year for sure that he can.

I plan on being conservative regardless, because we're locked in the field.

It feels good to do four straight, ... For some reason we show pretty quick in whatever car we run. We'll try to do the same tomorrow.

The lap felt good, but you never know what the track is going to be like. Elliott is carrying the ace in the hole, I think.

Would Rusty Wallace pull over and give me the opportunity to have five points I don't know,

If you look back to Las Vegas when they were illegal after the race, and then they were told that the crew chief was supposed to be suspended. .. and they appealed that and won the appeal after the car was illegal, it makes you wonder what's going on,

The way it worked out, with so many cars out, there was a lot less susceptibility to cautions and crashes, ... I'm just happy to have been up front and have a good consistent race car.

That's not good. They could make a judgment call and change the entire season for a championship-contending team and sponsor.

We can't just finish in the top five now. We've got to win races. Winning a couple of races would be awesome, but even that wouldn't guarantee us the title.

Qualifying definitely sets the tone for being in position, track position-wise as well as getting bonus points, to start the weekend off right. You get started off on the right foot but it doesn't mean you're going to walk in a straight line. That's the bottom line. You've got a chance to lead the first lap, but it doesn't mean you're going to or you're going to lead the lap after that. It helps, but it's not the full answer.

It's not necessarily good for the sport.
