Drew Bledsoe Quotes (78 Quotes)

I'd be really surprised if he's not back next year. It's a personal decision, one he has to make. But I'd be surprised if he doesn't come back.

Had we lost today, it could have been really heartbreaking, ... It could have worn us down as a team.

I expect to play that way, ... I expect to be smart with what I'm doing. As I said in the preseason, one of the goals coming in for me personally was to avoid the negative plays.

This was huge because it would've hurt to lose back-to-back heartbreakers. It was a short week and we made mistakes, but we continued to show resiliency. We had to overcome ourselves to win.

They made an effort to stop Jason today. We tried a couple of times to get him the ball and they had two and three guys on him. But we had to get some other guys involved.

I understand what we're doing. We're playing the odds a little bit. Our defense is playing well and we're trying to be as smart as we can. ... We'll continue to do that, but there will be times when we come out and attack a little more. When Bill says, 'Put the metal down,' I'll be ready to go.

There were really two things that factored into my decision, ... One of them was Bill obviously, and then the other one was looking at the talent that was here.

We're going to show up and play the game anyway.

I expect to play that way and I expect to win, ... If that is the highlight of our season, we will all be disappointed.

His defense, just facing them in practice, was always very tough to deal with. I know he'll have some blitzes for us and will try to make things as hard on me as he can.

The amount of work and the amount of both physical and emotional investment it takes to get to the top.

If I ever get to the point where I feel like I've proven everything I need to prove, then it's probably time to walk away. I think I still have a lot to offer. I think I can still play the game at a very high level, throw the ball accurately, be a good leader.

To put (Tucker) over there on an island for the entire game probably wouldn't be pretty smart,

As a veteran player, I understand there's a method to his madness,

This team is capable of winning a lot of games, ... and we can do it a lot of different ways.

Crazy things can happen, ... There are a lot of talented players in this league and if you don't take advantage of your opportunities and put a team away when you have a chance, you always leave them some opportunity to beat you. That's what happened.

I said, 'Yes, sir,' 'No, sir' and did what I was supposed to do. He's a funny guy, but he's only funny if he's not talking to you because he's pretty hard on guys. When I was young, I got tired of all the noise from Bill. As you get older, you realize some of the things he taught me when I was young that have gone on to help me in my career.

It's a play we worked on this week, ... The discussion was that he had to go a little deeper than the play was designed so we could get the first down. After that, it was an athletic play on his part to get in the end zone.

You don't get another chance to make a first impression, everybody knows that, ... That is important. But at the same time, the process for me is going to be one where on a day-to-day basis, I'm going to have to show a willingness to work hard. I'm going to have to be here for the team.

It's going to change things, scheme-wise and in my approach to the game, ... Obviously, when you (have) a Pro Bowl left tackle, when you have a guy of that caliber playing on your left side, you just kind of put him over there and forget about it. You just rely on him to handle whoever is rushing on him.

They're deep questions. The kids raise a lot of questions that you wouldn't expect a child to pick up on.

If we continue to play like this, it will open things up in the passing game. And if we can maintain this balance, it will make us a hard team to handle.

I've got to throw that ball higher and out of bounds. It was just a major-league mistake on my part. I just didn't get it up high enough. It's unfortunate. I've got to make a better play.

I wish we could've gotten Peerless more involved today. But that will come.

That's something you're not supposed to be able to do, ... and he finds a way to do it and make it be sound.

It is the best feeling in the world to have a close game come down to just a couple of plays and you are able to do it.

I thought our defense completely shut them down today. They were able to keep their offense of the field. I thought that was big. They never really got it going because our defense really played well today.

People try to pigeonhole Bill and make it out like he just wants to run the ball and play defense. I've been with him before, and we threw it more than anyone in the history of the league. He's not afraid to take a chance on a trick play here and there. He felt that would give us a chance, and it obviously did. Those plays turned into points for us.

I haven't changed one bit, ... What I've got is ... guys that are giving me time to throw the ball.

He's obviously a tremendous talent and everybody knows the difficulties he's had. Anybody that's going to look at him has to determine how much they'd be willing to take and determine from T. O. where he's at in terms of his attitude toward things. There are a lot of things if a team is going to approach T. O. that they've got to weigh.

The only time you see a game like that is in college.

I don't like to talk to a bunch of people. I'll put it that way. But people call and, you know, try to give you moral support.

To go and talk to somebody that has a negative relationship with the guy, I just don't see the benefit for me personally or our team in doing that.

I kind of picked up the game at an early age. The way that other kids would learn what a fork or a spoon is.

I bumped into him this morning and talked to him a little bit. I didn't get a sense from him at all that he was overly tired or worn out, or any of those things that would kind of lead you to believe that it's getting to be too much for him.

That's the only reason I'm here. I don't need to play the game for any other reason than to win a championship.

It just kind of starting hurting yesterday, ... One of those things.

I also thought it was good for our offense to bounce back from a really horrible start. I think we showed that there is no panic in this team... can respond to adversity which is going to serve us well in the future.

It's going to be a great challenge to run the ball against (the Chargers), but we're not going to back down from that. We're still going to run the ball. We feel like we can be a very good rushing football team, and we're not going to let anyone chase us away from that.

You know, it's a different deal - throwing a football as opposed to throwing a baseball.

Bill said when he brought me in here 'You've got to be smart. We're not going to throw the ball like a high-wire act, living life on the edge all the time,' ... The biggest thing I am going to be focused on is eliminating negative plays.

Jason Witten is a special talent. He's as good as Ben Coates (was) when I played with him in his younger years.

He will make things as hard on me as he can, ... He takes pride in trying to put pressure on the quarterback and trying to devise schemes to confuse your protection and try to get in the backfield. If we can handle it, we are going to have opportunities to make plays.

You keep hearing everybody wants a more mobile quarterback, ... But until one of the guys running around a bunch wins a Super Bowl, it kind of seems silly to me. Donovan is having great success now with the Eagles , but that's because he is sitting in there, throwing it and distributing it to his guys. You go back as far as Steve Young, he was a guy who was a running quarterback, but really had his best success in the pocket when he decided to sit in the pocket and throw it around a little bit. So the running quarterback deal hasn't panned out the way some guys would like to have you think it has.

It was a team victory and it took everything we had. Hopefully this is a step for us in the right direction.

I have a tremendous amount of respect for Greg g. I think you learn a lot more about a guy when things start going bad than you do when things are going good. The best compliment I can pay Gregg is that when things started to turn south a little bit for us in Buffalo, he was steadfast and strong and remained a great leader for that team right up until they let him go.

To fall behind like we did and be able to respond and make the plays that we had to,

We thought we had a chance to throw it on them if we picked up the blitz.

The thing I liked best about our offense tonight is that we finally got out of our own way, ... We were making mistakes, but not because the defense was forcing us to do it. When we run the ball like we did tonight, we're going to be good offensively.

A lot of throws I make to him feel weird to me. It feels like I'm throwing to the wrong place, but it's actually the right place for him because it's up high and he can snatch it.
