On Calvary’s hill
three crosses,
their shadows remain
down through the generations
The three crosses
the sacrifice of the savior;
the choices of the two thieves
like us, each of them sinners
Their choice, the same as we face
to repent and follow Christ
to live our lives in glory
or follow the way of the earth
eternal damnation, like one’s fate

thought of this morning
with the sharp-edged shadows
in the fall-morning light
