The three men of the family
poised to cross the street
ready to drop off the big brother
at first grade, at the school
but they waited
basking in the warm May sun
on the sunny side of the crossing
drinking in the heat of the morning
on a seasonal day
wearing Nascar and Red Sox
and shades, dad, older brother
and baby brother too
A picture for the billboards
They had shades
and knew it
