I made good use of my time today. My husband was gone for the morning and I
thought, "Good
time to clean through the house." I had read the Daily devotional first
thing, as I always do, and
it was on cleaning the bathroom. It dawned on me that I have two bathrooms
to clean, not my
favourite chore either. A time alone cleaning is great therapy and a good
time to think. My
memory went back to when I was a young girl. The two things I had to do on
Saturdays were
to clean my bedroom (no comment) and the bathroom. To this very day I can
see those little
black squares with four little white tiles around them. The whole floor was
done in this pattern.
There I was, down on my hands and knees scrubbing with Old Dutch cleanser.
The floor, which
seemed to be about 20 feet by 20 feet but was more likely 4 feet by 6 feet,
just seemed a huge
task and I hated it.
Today I realize that these were teaching tools. When the house is all
cleaned up, I can sit down
and say "It is good," until the one I dearly love comes home, and then it
starts getting messed up
again. Then I have another chance to put it right. When God created the
heavens, the earth and
all creation, he said, "It is good" -- until man, whom He dearly loves,
came and messed it up.
God has given us another chance to make it right again, by receiving the
forgiveness of Christ.
Someday, thank God, Christ will come again, and all will be put right with
the world. No more
cleaning, for all will be made like new.
